Trio of firefighters retire after 30 years of service

Three Hickory Firefighters are retiring after 30 years of service. Ronnie Thick, Dwayne Starnes and Brent Stine have worked their way up through the ranks to now retire with multiple levels of training.

How will you realize there is a fire in the home? Would it be through the smell of smoke or the sound of smoke detector going off?

Through the “Get Alarmed North Carolina” grant, the Newton Fire Department can go into people’s homes and test for the smoke and COD detectors.
