Currently, 27 people in the state of North Carolina have died as a result from the flu — three of them being from Catawba County.

PWX wrestling hosts ‘Taken By Force’ on Saturday

For the third time in the past five months, the Premiere Wrestling Xperience (PWX) invades the Hickory Metro Convention Center on Saturday.

The wrestling promotion, which has been in existence since 2003, features some of the top independent professional wrestlers in the country.

Marching in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

The city of Newton will hold its annual celebration this Monday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m.

The community is invited to participate in a march from St. Paul United Methodist Church to the old 1924 Court House in Newton.

One on O-N-E: What's your biggest dream?

On Monday afternoon, the Observer News Enterprise visited local people in the city of Newton to pose the question, “In honor or Martin Luther King Jr., what is your biggest dream?”

O-N-E Staff Reporter Jimmy Hilton asked this question to three people — Shannon Huffman, Zara Saine and William Rice — and took down their responses.
