Two critically injured in wreck

A single car accident Wednesday night in North Newton injured three and closed a portion of North Main Avenue for several hours.

According to Newton police officials, Stacy Lee Puckett from 745 Boundry Street, Newton was traveling south on North Main Ave. at a high rate of speed and lost control of his 2003 Lexus 300 passenger car when he crested the hill near 13th street.

Fire destroys pick-up

A pick-up truck parked in the parking lot of Newton Family Physicians at 767 West First Street, Newton burned and damaged two other passenger cars, Tuesday morning shortly after 10 a.m.
No one was injured.

A black 1985 Chevrolet Silverado Pick-up truck, driven by Willie Mae Wilson, caught fire due to an excessive build-up of oil and debris on the motor.

Newton resident Richard Harris recalls 'surreal' scene

Richard Harris’ dream of running in the Boston Marathon on Monday quickly turned into a nightmare.

Three people were killed and more than 176 were wounded in the two explosions on Monday on the same street Harris had walked on just about an hour prior.

WATERTOWN, Mass. — A 19-year-old Massachusetts college student wanted in the Boston Marathon bombing was captured hiding in a boat parked in a backyard Friday night and his older brother lay dead in a furious 24-hour drama that transfixed the nation and paralyzed the Boston area.

Lawn mower accident injures yard worker

An early afternoon riding lawn mower accident sent a Newton man to the hospital Thursday. The accident happened on the corner of Boston Road and N.C. 10. 

Angie Queen, a nearby neighbor, identified the man on the mower as Pete Hollar.

Wreck injures dog

A single vehicle accident, Wednesday on a busy street in Newton closed the road for an hour and injured a dog.

Jonathan Fulghum was driving his Jeep Cherokee east on West 7th Street Extension near Little Hill Road when he reached down to use his cell phone.
