Art unveiled at city hall

Thursday the city of Conover staff displayed eight drawings by local students in city hall.

The works, which depicted what they loved the most about Conover, ranged in themes from the local farmers market to the library.

Last Big Mac attack for awhile

Starting Sunday, McDonald’s fans wanting their Big Mac attacks will have to wait about 100 days before they can sit down again at the restaurant’s U.S. 70 Conover location.

Two Conover men convicted

Two Conover men were convicted of separate sexual offenses Thursday in Catawba County Criminal Superior Court.

Robert Daniel Deese, 34, of Conover, was convicted of Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child (3 counts).
The defendant was sentenced to no less than 15 months and no more than 18 months in the North Carolina Division of Adult Correction.

Pearson retires after 40 years of county service

Polly Pearson recently retired from Catawba County Social Services after 40 years of helping people cope with life’s challenges. Originally hired in June of 1972, she taught people the daily skills needed for a successful life.
