CONOVER â€” A half century after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, a prominent Conover surgeon has memories of the historic event that few Americans can share.
CONOVER â€” Don Barker remembers the sights and sounds of Nov. 24, 1963 like they were just yesterday.
â€śMuffled drums,â€ť said Barker, a former events photographer at the Observer News Enterprise. â€śIt haunts me to this day.â€ť
