Allran sworn back into Senate

Senator Austin Allran (R-Catawba and Alexander) was sworn in Wednesday for his 14th two-year term representing the 42nd District in the North Carolina Senate. The oath of office was administered by North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Paul Newby.

Man arrested on sex charges

A Denver man has been charged with one felony count of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old female.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detectives Sally Dellinger and Dan Renn arrested Glenn Andrew Morgan, 57, of 1865 N.C. 16, Denver, on one felony count of Statutory Rape/Sexual Offense of a 13, 14, or 15 year old by a defendant 6 years older. 

Discovery High students ‘perfect’

Two Discovery High School students have earned perfect scores on the SAT.

Senior, Hayden Frye earned a perfect 800 on the verbal portion of the SAT when he took the test in October.

Junior, Geoffrey McGee earned a perfect 800 on the math portion of the SAT when he took the test in December.
