Four trailblazers in the Newton-Conover City Schools system were appropriately saluted for their service to the school system — with red blazers.

Recently Newton-Conover City Schools presented the first Red Blazer Awards to four individuals who have played an integral role to the success of the school system.

19 charged with DWI

July 17, 2012

Police issues 880 traffic and criminal violations in Catawba County during the "Booze it and Lose it" campaign during the July 4 holiday period. Among those there were 19 driving while intoxicated arrests made in the county.

Statewide, there were 63,485 traffic and criminal violations during the period, including 1,937 DWI arrests.
