With the school year reaching the halfway mark, the Rotary Club of Newton-Conover is doing it’s best to keep students fed during the weekends. The Rotary Club feeds students through The Back Pack Program. The club worked with the Department of Social Services to “adopt” Startown Elementary School in Newton.
From left, Lindsay Lansdawne, Shelby Lail Kneeling, Erin Kelley and Elaina Ramseur-Luckey show off the 917 non-perishable food items South Newton Elementary School collected. The students are student council representatives for the fifth grade. Terry Drum’s fifth grade class collected the most items with 430 cans and won a pizza party.
