Hunger: A mountain to conquer

Bridge back open for business

The reoccurring detour for Newton-Conover residents is over.
After months of construction, the bridge on Old-Conover-Startown Road that provided a crossing over Clark Creek has been reopened.

If you attended the Bach’s Lunch ‘n’ Listen at Newton-Conover Auditorium last Friday, you most likely felt like you were able to experience the music of the past. The Keller Family - Lutz, Caroline, Helena and Ingrid - presented an early music program, taking the audience on a historical journey of music.

A new career

“Way to go grandma,” a tiny voice yelled from the audience as Sue Bumgarner walked across the stage to graduate from Lenoir-Rhyne University for the second time.

Bumgarner was different than many of the other students graduating from LR's Masters program last year – she was 68 years old.
