Red Hawks replace Bucs as CVCC’s new mascot

The era of the Buccaneers ended Wednesday at Catawba Valley Community College, while the age of the Red Hawks rose.

CVCC announced its new school mascot during the school’s Spring Fling event at the Tarlton Complex in front members of the student body.

Pinwheels for Prevention raises abuse awareness

The Zahra Baker All Children’s Playground glistened with the reflections of 2,000 pinwheels for prevention on Wednesday afternoon.

The pinwheel represents childlike notions and stands for the chance at the healthy, happy and full lives all children deserve, according to the Prevent Child Abuse America organization.
