Republican candidates collide in final forum

More than 200 Republican voters turned out at the Newton-Conover Auditorium on Tuesday night for the second of two Primary Candidates Forums.

Three races were featured during the event, including 96th District House of Representatives, Clerk of Court in Catawba County and the 25th District Attorney.

Wanda Sue Annas Hefner, age 72, of Conover, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. Burke Mortuary in Newton is serving the Hefner family.

Lisa Kathryn Hayes Rader, 55, of Maiden, died Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Carolina’s Medical Center Lincoln in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends following the service.
