Matt Johnson had never thrown five touchdown passes in his entire football career.
That was until Saturday.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound quarterback tossed five scores in the Charlotte 49ersâ 47-7 victory against Chowan at Richardson Stadium in Charlotte.

The Carolina Panthers showed flashes of brilliance on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
In the end, it was the same old story in another close home loss.
A 43-yard touchdown pass from Russell Wilson to Jermaine Kearse was the difference maker in a 12-7 win for the Seahawks against the Panthers.
When Hickory needed a big play on the football field against Newton-Conover on Friday, Jahiz Linebarger was there to answer the call.
Linebarger rushed 18 times for 179 yards and three touchdowns, helping the Red Tornadoes earn a 33-28 win against the Red Devils.
As a team, Hickory (2-1) tallied 220 yards on the ground on 34 carries.
Behind 419 yards of total offense, Bunker Hill defeated Fred T. Foard on the football field, 34-0, in Claremont.
The Bears tallied 294 yards of offense on the ground, led by Jordan Eckardâs 98 yards on 22 carries and a rushing score.
Colton Chapman led Bunker Hill (3-0) with 204 yards of total offense, including 125 through the air and 79 on the ground.
Kermit Bryant Hull, age 83, of Catawba, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013, at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton, N.C. The Hull family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Conover.

Laban Helderman had what he calls a mid-life crisis 10 years ago.
That crisis involved him leaving Duke Energy after 29 years and opening Buffalo Shoals IGA Supermarket and Hardware.
“As a boy I always wanted a hardware store,” Helderman said.
Bobby Lutz is regarded by many as one of the greatest minds in the game of basketball today.
The Catawba County native and associate menâs basketball coach at N.C. State is also a champion for those battling mental illnesses.
Lutz spoke Thursday morning at Abernethy Laurels Retirement Community during âA Reason to Hope,â a special event that raised awareness for Alzheimerâs disease.
