The Bunker Hill and Newton-Conover volleyball teams both picked up semifinal wins in the Southern District 7 Athletic 2A tournament on Monday.
The two teams meet in today's final, which takes place at 5 p.m. at N-CHS.

Bunker Hill (17-6) vs. Maiden (13-7), 5 p.m.
NEWTON â€” Down in numbers and experience, the Newton-Conover football team struggled in a 48-19 loss against West Lincoln on Friday night.
The victory by the Rebels (6-1, 2-1) was only their second-ever against a Red Devil team.
LENOIR â€” The Maiden football team continued its solid play so far this season with a 46-26 road victory against West Caldwell on Friday.
Maiden travels to Bandys (3-4, 1-2) next week for its next SD-7 contest and second rivalry game in three weeks.

The fourth annual Yancey County Dream Home Tour, benefitting Mayland Community College, takes place Saturday, Oct. 12.

Charlcie Lucille Brown Teague, age 77, of Claremont passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at her residence. Burke Mortuary in Newton is serving the Teague family.
Sadie Ruth Lail Arndt, 85, of Conover died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Catawba County Animal Shelter is recognizing Adopt A Shelter Dog Month this October by offering half price adoptions through Oct. 19.
Joe Goble just celebrated his 99th birthday. Born in 1914, heâ€™s seen both world wars, the Great Depression and the invention of Internet. Goble remembers his first job, hitchhiking five miles to work for a dollar a day in Statesville.
He recalls driving across the country to find work in California but returning to see about a beautiful girl, whom he later married, in North Carolina.
