NEWTON â€” Newton Police have charged a Maiden man with holding up the Hess-Wilco gas station/convenience store on U.S. 321-Business in Newton, and firing shots at a witness' vehicle.
Dimitris Rashawn Williams, 21, of 307 S. D. Ave. in Maiden, was taken into custody Wednesday, according to multiple sources.
Williams faces several sets of charges in the incident, according to county records.

DENVER â€” For the second time in three seasons, East Lincoln is forfeitting a win on the gridiron.
Mustangs athletic director and head football coach Mike Byus sent out a press release to local media Wednesday morning notifying them of the school's decision to forfeit its first three games of the season.
DENVER â€” Detectives have released a photo of an apparent break-in underway late last week and are asking for the public's help in identifying a person appearing in the photo.
The incident is believed to have occurred Friday in northeastern Lincoln County, a little more than a mile south of the Catawba County line.

Sue Evelyn Baker Hunsucker, 81, of Conover went home to be with her Lord and Savior and her beloved husband Hal on Monday, October 21, 2013, at Catawba Regional Hospice. The Hunsucker family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home & Cremations in Conover, NC.
HICKORY â€” The St. Stephens volleyball team remained perfect on the season Tuesday with a 3-0 victory against North Henderson in the second round of the 3A playoffs.
The Lady Indians improve to 25-0 on the season.
