MAIDEN â€” A Maiden man was convicted of eight felonies in Catawba County Criminal Superior Court.
Bryan Keith Harris, 35, was charged with possession/distribution of methamphetamine precursor, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of stolen goods, possession of a stolen firearm, two counts of breaking and entering and two counts of larceny.
LINCOLNTON â€” Lincoln County Sheriffâ€™s detectives have charged two Catawba County teens with break-ins to vehicles at a business on Smokey Dan Kennel Road.
A neighbor on his way home from work noticed a man holding a flashlight standing in the parking lot of Jerryâ€™s Body Shop and Used Cars.
MAIDEN â€” February marked a major turning point for one local 18-hole golf club.
Early morning on Feb. 22, neighbors called 9-1-1 after hearing an explosion and seeing flames at Glen Oaks Golf Club in Maiden.
The fire originated in the kitchen of the clubhouse and spread throughout the building, leaving only the facade standing in the ashes.
CATAWBA â€” Flames lit up the darkness early Friday morning in Catawba.
At 1:35 a.m. Catawba Volunteer Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire at 5570 Kids Drive.

MAIDEN â€” Tuning up for a rematch with East Lincoln, the Maiden football teamâ€™s offense kicked it into overdrive.
Quarterback Jake McRee threw five touchdown passes, including three to Kyle Kelly, leading the Blue Devils to a 35-0 victory against Forbush at Blue Devil Stadium.
WEST JEFFERSON â€” Bunker Hill overcame six turnovers to defeat Ashe County, 20-17, on Friday in the first round of the 2A playoffs.
In other playoff action, Bandys lost a close road game to conference rival East Lincoln, while Hickory fell by two touchdowns to Pisgah in Canton.

A philanthropic Newton couple who work together and share an interest in live theatre performed locally for the youngsters and adults of Newton and Catawba County are giving the community an early Christmas present of major proportion.
