Newton-Conover (21-1-1) at South Iredell (20-2-0), 7 p.m.
3A brackets
St. Stephens (19-3-2) at Burns (21-2-1), 6 p.m.
At the age of 93, Louis Nunnery – Catawba County’s renaissance man, dance instructor, choreographer, painter, decorator and collector of luxury cars – passed away on Feb. 11.

Facing a Shelby squad that was unbeaten in its past 42 tennis matches, Newton-Conover coach Brian Tate needed his team to execute his plan to perfection on Wednesday.
However, the Red Devils (20-4) struggled at the nets, falling 5-1 to the Golden Lions in the 2A West Regional final at NCHS.
Behind Chaniece Moss’ goal on an Abby Cox assist, the Newton-Conover girls soccer team advanced to the fourth round of the 2A playoffs on Wednesday.
The Lady Red Devils defeated Owen 1-0 in Black Mountain.
Moss’ goal came at the seven-minute mark of the first half, and a stingy LRD defense held on for the one-goal shutout.
St. Stephens’ Macy Franklin scored four goals on Wednesday — all in the first half — helping the Lady Indians defeat Ashbrook 6-0 in the third round of the 3A playoffs.
Former Freedom football coach Mike Helms is the next prep football coach at Hickory High School.
Helms' hire was approved during a special session of the Hickory Public Schools Board of Education on Wednesday.
Ralph S. Graham of Sherrills Ford, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Heartland Care Center of Peoria, Il. A memorial service to celebrate Ralph’s life will be held on June 1, at 2 p.m. at Hopewell UMC, Sherrills Ford. Memorials may be made to Hopewell UMC or Hospice Compassus of Peoria, Il.
After a total of 38 years in local government, 20 of which has been spent in his current role as Claremont’s Fire Chief, Gary Sigmon has announced his plans to retire effective June 30.
In January, Rachel Cooke found out her grandfather, Eddie Travis, had aggressive prostate cancer. Once she found out, Cooke began a grassroots effort to help raise money for not only her grandfather, but for cancer research in the county.
