Schedule to run Aug. 28 through Sept. 2, the fair will promote the milestone year with the theme  “Come celebrate with us.”

Harvey makes his Single-A debut in Aberdeen

Former Bandys High pitcher Hunter Harvey made his debut Tuesday night for the Single-A Aberdeen IronBirds (Md.).

Harvey tossed 4.1 innings in his outing against the Hudson Valley Renegades, allowing four hits, one unearned run, one walk and struck out five batters.

He was tagged with the loss after giving up the game’s only run in the top of the fifth on an errant pickoff attempt.

Orioles' Harvey promoted to Single-A, starts tonight

Former Bandys High pitcher Hunter Harvey will make his debut tonight for the Single-A Aberdeen Ironbirds (Md.).

Harvey was promoted to the club on Monday from the Gulf Coast League Orioles.

Donnie Lee Harmon, age 54, of Conover, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. The Harmon family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home & Cremations in Conover, NC.

Then slowly, after several months, I could see little cracks. He'd talk a little bit. It became 20 questions. Then, somewhere about halfway through the year it became a discussion.”

Hornets’ defense forces seven turnovers in home win

The Catawba County Hornets persevered through the rain to pick up their fourth victory of the season on Saturday at Westside/Jaycee Park.

The Hornets defense forced seven turnovers in a 14-0 win against the Carolina Heat.

Catawba County defenders Brent Wilkerson, Tommy Henry and Kyle Loflin each forced two turnovers, while Jarrod Holmes tallied the other.
