From Catawba to Camden Yards and from Trojan to Oriole, Hunter Harvey started his career transformation on Tuesday in Maryland.

Dressed in Oriole colors, Harvey was officially introduced as a member of the Baltimore franchise after signing his contract.

Second train accident

A Norfolk Southern freight train collided with a passenger car just before noon, Tuesday at the same rail crossing where a vehicle was struck last Thursday.

According to Conover police officials, the driver of a white Chevrolet Impala was crossing the railroad on 2nd Avenue Place SE after leaving Southern Furniture Company and was struck by an eastbound freight train loaded with gravel.

Mark Kevin Rowe, 47, of Newton, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Mid City General Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA.  The Rowe family is in the care of Robert F. Bennett, Funeral Service Licensee.
