3A girls (Section 3)
No. 4 Tuscola (20-7) at No. 1 Hickory (25-2), 6:30 p.m.
**Winner meets either No. 6 Franklin (23-6) or No. 10 Enka (13-15) next Thursday at UNC-Greensboro**
3A boys (Section 4)

Down teammates Jordan Turner and Daniel Tomberlin, senior Brice Falgout stepped up when his team needed him.
Falgout scored 18 points, helping the Fred T. Foard boys basketball team (24-4) advance to the third round of the 3A playoffs with a 58-56 win against Hickory.

Lisa Ann DiCecco, 90, of Hickory died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at Frye Regional Medical Center. No services are planned at this time.
Macedonio Francisco Viruel Lopez, 36, of Lincolnton died Feb. 23, 2013 in Lincolnton. Burial will be in Mexico at a later date.
The Sherrills Ford-Terrell Rotary Club has started a program to honor a “Student of the Month.”
Their first recipient of this award was given to Jared Torrence.
Torrence is currently a senior at Bandys High School. He was nominated for this award by school faculty.
Two Lenoir-Rhyne University students were arrested on campus for drug related charges Monday, Feb.25.
D e v o n Sutherland, 21, of 743 6th St NE, Hi c k o r y, was arrested across the street from the Fritz-Conrad dormitories at about 11 p.m.

With the NBA's worst team in town, the Los Angeles Clippers were conscious not to play down to the Bobcats' level.

Milton Eugene Cline, 85, of Newton died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Catawba Regional Hospice, Newton. Memorials may be made to Gospel Light Baptist Church.
Mai Zoua Vang, 39, of Morganton died Feb. 15, 2013 at her residence. Burial will follow on Sunday noon at Catawba Memorial Park.
