Barrett William Lynch, 45, of Mt. Airy, formerly of Newton,  died after a courageous battle on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. The Lynch family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton.

Newton police seek help identifying suspects

On Sunday, Feb. 17, the Newton Police Department responded to 36 Northwest Blvd (US 321 Business) Newton, reference a reported armed robbery at the CVS. 

Upon arrival, officers were advised a white female  entered the store and proceeded to walk directly to the rear of the store to the pharmacy. 

Comedian killed after Newton performance

A stand-up comedian,  who performed Saturday night at a sold out performance in the Newton-Conover Auditorium, died early Sunday morning  in a two-car wreck on I-40 in Durham County.

Brian Edward Kiley, 28, of Goodlettsville, Tenn., died at the scene of the accident.
