Tatum giving back to his fellow veterans through team

CLAREMONT — Two years ago, Rod Tatum was serving his country 6,000 miles away from home.

Following his return, the Bunker Hill wrestling coach is giving back to his fellow soldiers and teaching his wrestlers lessons in the process.

Strong second half lifts Maiden past Lincolnton

MAIDEN — Tied 7-7 at halftime, the Maiden football team kicked it into overdrive in the second half against Lincolnton.

The Blue Devils scored 35 second-half points on their way to winning 42-14 at home against the Wolves.

Wynn some, lose some

A woman who was reported missing Oct. 7 and recently located by Maiden Police is now being held at the Catawba County Detention Center.

Police say Jennifer Leigh Wynn, 36, of Maiden was responsible for a theft from her former employer, Royal Enterprises, operator of the Maiden Shell convenience store.
