After giving up turnovers and creating short fields last week in a loss to rival Maiden, karma favored Newton-Conover on the football field Friday against Bandys.
The Red Devils (3-3, 1-1) forced three fumbles, surging ahead of the Trojans early to eventually come away with a 35-14 win at Gurley Stadium.
GAMEWELL — With help from running back Grant Yowe, the Maiden football team continued its roll in the Catawba Valley 2A on Friday.
Yowe rushed for four touchdowns, helping the Blue Devils upend winless West Caldwell on the road, 31-0.
Maiden improves to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play, setting up a pivotal conference match-up with South Iredell (5-1, 2-0) next week in Troutman.
TAYLORSVILLE — Alexander Central racked up 438 yards of total offense on its way to a two-touchdown Northwestern 3A/4A victory against Fred T. Foard on Friday, 28-14.
Of those 438 yards by the Cougars (3-3, 2-0), 204 came from running back Casey Anderson on 17 carries.
Anderson also had a 49-yard rushing touchdown in the contest.
