Continuing its dominant play early in the conference schedule, the Newton-Conover boys soccer team rolled to another win on Thursday.
The Red Devils (4-2-1, 2-0-0) scored three goals in the first half and six more in the second half on their way to a 9-1 road victory over Maiden.
Jayvee football season continued on Thursday with six match ups featuring seven Catawba County football squads.

The Bandys soccer team scored four goals in the first and second half each on their way to a 8-0 shutout victory over Draughn on Thursday.
Zach Beresford led the Trojans (3-4, 2-0) with three goals and two assists.
Armando Rivera, Kenny Ryan, Kyle Enyeart, Ben Howden and Morrissey Muniz added goals in the victory.
Stephen Simmons, Howden and Rivera also tallied assists in the victory.
The CVCC volleyball team improved to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play with a three-set victory over the visiting Spartanburg Lady Pioneers on Thursday 25-22, 25-22 and 25-15.
Stat leaders for the Lady Bucs include Jennifer Beatty with 10 kills and five aces, Hannah Lewis with 18 digs, Lacy Goodson with 24 assists and Cecilia Brandon with 3.5 blocks.

LINCOLNTON — Two men have been killed in a wreck in Lincoln County.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol says the wreck happened shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday on N.C. 10.
Officials say the victims were 33-year-old Eric Timothy Hicks of Yadkinville and 42-year-old Larry Cook of Vale.
