The Hickory Crawdads kept their playoff hopes alive, treating fans to a win in the team’s regular season home finale Thursday.
Hickory’s Zach Cone and Drew Robinson both homered, while starting pitcher Will Lamb allowed no runs in five innings, helping lift the Crawdads to the 3-1 victory against the Lexington Legends at L.P. Frans Stadium.
St. Stephens lost its opener in the Northwestern 3A/4A conference in four sets to Watauga on Thursday 25-17, 25-19, 21-25 and 25-20.
Breanna Hall and Jenna Boliek led Saint (6-1, 0-1) with seven kills each. Baily Cloninger tallied 13 assists, while Katelyn Houser added 11 assists and eight digs.
Defensively, Ashley Markland recorded 15 digs.
