Fifty-seven youth golfers in five age groups teed off Monday at the sixth Catawba Valley Junior Golf Tour event of the summer season at Glen Oaks Golf Club in Maiden.
Next week's Catawba Valley Junior Golf Tour event takes place at Hampton Heights Golf Course in Hickory.
In front of more than 150 fans, the Catawba County Hornets made an emphatic statement to start their season Saturday, rolling to a 62-0 victory against the visiting Winston-Salem Red Wolves at Westside/Jaycee Park.
