Foard falls short of state title

June 2, 2012

The Fred T. Foard softball team finished one win short of a state title.

The Lady Tigers fell 7-2 Sunday afternoon to C.B. Aycock in the third and deciding game of the 3A state championship series.

Foard won game one Saturday, 1-0, in extra innings before dropping the next two games in the series, including a 4-3 defeat in game two.

Series tied 1-1 after Lady Tigers' late rally falls short

After falling behind 4-0 in the first couple of innings, Fred T. Foard rallied in its second game against C.B. Aycock in the best-of-three state 3A championship series Saturday.

The Lady Tigers (26-5) scored three runs in the top of the third, but could not get any closer, dropping the contest, 4-3, to the Falcons.
