BREAKING: Edwards not guilty on 1 count, mistrial on others

John Edwards was acquitted on one charge of campaign finance fraud and a mistrial was declared on five other counts Thursday when jurors said they couldn't decide if he illegally used money to hide his pregnant mistress while he ran for president.

To friends, Tisa Michelle Strickland was “precious” and “a wonderful mother” to her 13-month-old daughter, Payton Michelle Dellinger.

“She was just a wonderful, happy-go-lucky kind of person,” said Chastity McRee, owner of Brookwood Family Restaurant in Maiden. “She had an air about her that she was just full of life, and she loved her little girl.”

Crawdads clip Shorebirds, sweep series

The Hickory Crawdads finished off a road sweep of the Delmarva Shorebirds in Maryland on Wednesday, 3-2.

Crawdads shortstop Luis Sardinas plated Rougned Odor twice in the game, including RBI singles in the sixth and eighth inning.

Odor, the South Atlantic League player of the week for May 21-27, had three of the 'Dads six hits in Wednesday's game.

Church, Gray lift Post 48 past Burke County, 7-5

A day after a dramatic last-inning victory, Post 48 continued its early season roll.

Todd Church pitched a one-hit performance in his 5.2 on the mound, whil Logan Gray hit a two-run homer to lift Hickory Post 48 to a 7-5 victory against Burke County Post 21.

Colton Chapman also went 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Post 48 (2-0).

NEW YORK (AP) — New owner, and now a new star player coming to New Orleans.

And yet another loss — in a historic season full of them — for Michael Jordan and the Charlotte Bobcats.

The Hornets, recently sold by the NBA to Saints owner Tom Benson, won the NBA's draft lottery Wednesday and the No. 1 pick overall — which they almost certainly will use to pick Kentucky star Anthony Davis.
