Maiden freshman and distance runner Corbin Boyles is running toward a 2A Western Regional title in the 1600- and 3200-meter runs this Saturday at Polk County High School.
He is hoping to compete for a 2A state title in those two events, as well as become a future Olympian.
Maiden rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to advance to Monday's Catawba Valley 2A baseball final, knocking off defending champion Bunker Hill, 7-6.
The Blue Devils will face top-seeded Draughn in the Monday final at L.P. Frans at 7 p.m.

Despite two RBIs in the top of the ninth inning, the Hickory Crawdads dropped their third-straight road game to the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Friday, 4-3.
The Grasshoppers (19-8) took a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning behind a three-run homer to center field by Matt Smith that plated Ryan McIntyre and Austin Barnes.
