Holden Pender picked up the win on the mound, while Griffin Shepard suffered the loss.
The Hickory Crawdads scattered 13 hits offensively and allowed only two by the Savannah Sand Gnats to earn the 7-1 victory Thursday on the road in South Atlantic League play.

Many people say they missed Newton Police Department officer Evaleene Fowler for the nearly three months she was off the streets this year.
Fowler was walking across "A" Street on Friday, Jan. 13, when she was hit by a Mustang. She was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center with injuries to her left leg and hip.
Since it became active in 2010, the Catawba County Gang Initiative has targeted dozens of the area’s most violent offenders — the worst of the worst.
Don’t expect to see “Deadly Murder” onstage at Hickory Community Theatre in the Firemen’s Kitchen. Instead, be prepared to listen to an eclectic mix of musicians. Be prepared to laugh and then laugh some more at improv. Be prepared to wonder at the world of illusion.
