Thieves hit Conover School

Thieves stole computer equipment and a camera from Conover School overnight Thursday.

Police say suspects broke a window to a Conover School classroom early Thursday morning and stole a Dell computer laptop, Kodak camera, a computer flash drive and a red duffle bag.

The items cost a total of about $1,000, according to a Conover Police Department incident report.

No arrests have been made in connection to the event. Conover Police Chief Steve Brewer said he thinks it’s an isolated event and no other area schools have been targeted.

A student at Startown Elementary topped hundreds of entries from Catawba, Caldwell, Alexander and Burke counties to win the Catawba Valley American Red Cross’ SevereWeather Awareness poster contest.
