The chairman of the Sherrills Ford fire departmentâs board of directors says it will be difficult to replace the agency's outgoing fire chief.
Keith Bost, an 11-year veteran of Sherrills Ford-Terrell Fire and Rescue (SFTFR), resigned unexpectedly in late February.
In his letter of resignation, Bost said he âcannot be unified in a direction the board wants to take the department,â said Chuck Connor, chairman of the Sherrills Ford-Terrell Fire and Rescue Board of Directors.

CHARLOTTE â Corey Maggette scored a season-high 29 points, Gerald Henderson hit some big shots in the fourth quarter, and the Charlotte Bobcats overcame a 20-point, first-half deficit to beat the Orlando Magic 100-84 Tuesday night.
The Bobcats came in having lost 21 of their last 22 games, but seemed to get a spark after coach Paul Silas was ejected in the second quarter with the team trailing by 18.
The Bobcats also got a big game from rookie center Bismack Biyombo, who battled toe-to-toe with Dwight Howard and had 10 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.

Police want your help in identifying the driver of a SUV that fled the scene after slamming into a 12-year-old Claremont girl on Sunday night.
Cassie Cozzen, 12, continues to receive treatment and is in intensive care at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, more than 48 hours after she was hit while walking alongside a rural road.
Cozzen and one other friend were walking from Bunker Hill High School on Oxford School Road about 7 p.m. Sunday when the 12-year-old was struck from behind by a champagne-colored SUV truck.
Cozzenâs friend called 9-1-1.
Police seized large quantities of pills, cash and guns from an elderly Newton manâs home on Thursday during a raid that involved three local departments.
Frank Callahan, 77, of 846 Crestway Drive in Newton, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule II narcotics after authorities found 42 Oxycodone pills, 19 guns and about $5,000 in cash at his residence.
The raid followed an undercover operation in which Callahan sold drugs to undercover officers, said Newton Police Maj. Kevin Yarborough.
Sheriffâs deputies are investigating an employee of a Sherrills Ford lumber company who allegedly embezzled more than $2,000 in forged checks.
The unidentified employee of Eades Wood Inc. allegedly took checks from company property to deposit money into a personal bank account, according to a Catawba County Sheriffâs Office incident report.
According to the report, the employee forged and deposited six checks totaling $2,200 into a personal bank account.
MOBILE, Ala. â U.S. Coast Guard officials say a memorial service is planned for Thursday to honor an N.C. guardsman and other crew members of a helicopter that crashed in Mobile Bay a week ago.
An MH-65C Dolphin helicopter crashed in the bay's shallow waters during a training mission Feb. 28.
Lt. Cmdr. Dale Taylor, of Snow Hill, was aboard the aircraft. His wife, Teresa, was a 1994 graduate of Bunker Hill High School and has family in Catawba County.

Police are looking for a driver who hit a 12-year-old Claremont girl and fled the Oxford School Road scene Sunday night.
The girl was seriously injured and airlifted to a Charlotte hospital, now the Claremont community is praying for her recovery and searching for a silver or champagne colored SUV.
