The Newton-Conover football team honored its senior class the best way it knew how on Friday — by winning impressively.
The Red Devils tallied 396 total yards, including 126 from senior running back Marquis Pope, on their way to blasting Draughn 41-21 at Gurley Stadium.
"Senior Night" is a special moment for high school students, but for the Fred T. Foard football team, it is a night they want to forget.
St. Stephens running back Marcus Payne scored four touchdowns to lead the Indians to a 35-13 win over the host Tigers on Friday night in Newton.
"They ran the same thing on film" said Foard coach Jason Phelps. "We just could not stop them."
The Maiden football team continue to stay near the top of the Catawba Valley 2A standings with a 14-0 victory against East Burke.
Jake McRee threw a three-yard touchdown pass to Austin Wright for the Blue Devils' first score, while Grant Yowe scored a second half touchdown on a two-yard run.
