Blue Devils earn sweep, await Cavaliers

January 9, 2012

Trailing 22-19 at the half, the Maiden boys basketball team found its second half wind.

The Blue Devils (6-6) outscored the Eagles (2-8) 30-8 in the second half, including 23-6 in the fourth quarter, rising to the non-conference victory.

“We just stepped up,” said Maiden coach Doug Miller. “Our intensity just got a whole lot better. We didn’t give them second chances. We cut those out. I was proud of them. Hopefully, we can carry that defensive effort to tomorrow.”

Blue Devils post player Jalen Gibbs scored 15 points, the only competitor in Monday’s game to reach double figures.
