Police found key evidence Wednesday in the Zahra Baker homicide investigation, but they won't confirm the nature of the evidence.
Hickory Police released a press release Thursday stating search teams in Caldwell County "located evidence that could provide valuable information in the Zahra Baker case." The evidence is being analyzed at the State Bureau of Investigation’s lab.
The Fred T. Foard Tigers' 2010 season ended Wednesday in the third round of the 3-A West playoffs. Gastonia Ashbrook tied Foard 1-1 in overtime, but it beat the Tigers 4-3 in penalty kicks to advance to the region semifinal.
Ashbrook plays at 7 p.m. Saturday at Hickory. The Red Tornadoes beat Asheville 1-0 on Wednesday to advance.
Foard ends the season 14-7-5 overall.
